      Sodium cyanide: commonly known as Shannai, Shannai sodium, is a kind of cyanide, cubic crystal system, white crystal particles or powder, easy to deliquesce, with a faint smell of bitter almond. Toxic, skin wound contact, inhalation, swallowing trace can poison death. It is an important basic chemical raw material for basic chemical synthesis, electroplating, llurgy and organic synthetic medicine, pesticides and l treatment.

      Sodium cyanide is hydrolyzed strongly to form hydrogen cyanide, and the aqueous solution is strongly alkaline. It is often used to extract precious ls such as gold and silver. It is also used in electroplating, pesticide manufacturing and organic synthesis. Sodium cyanide leaked into nature can cause serious damage to organisms and soil, and can be highly toxic when exposed to water. People lose consciousness within a minute after ingesting 100-200 mg of sodium cyanide.

      Manifestations of sodium cyanide poisoning

      Mild poisoning: headache, dizziness, fatigue, chest tightness, tears, runny, nausea, vomiting, dyspnea, bitter almond taste in the mouth, etc.

      Severe poisoning: In addition to the gradual aggravation of mild poisoning symptoms, due to the worsening of hypoxia, it causes shortness of breath, chest urgency, arrhythmia, restlessness, convulsions, disturbance of consciousness, coma, decrease of blood pressure, shallow breathing, slowing down to complete cessation. Oral administration or inhalation of large amounts of high concentration hydrocyanic acid can cause immediate respiratory and cardiac arrest.

      Poisoning is mainly caused by inhalation of dust or hydrogen cyanide gas from the respiratory tract. Poisoning can also be caused by absorption of skin and digestive tract. Population take 0.06 grams of hydrocyanic acid, 0.1-0.3 grams of sodium cyanide can die. Inhalation of sodium cyanide dust or inhalation of hydrogen cyanide gas should be immediately removed from the scene, moved to the fresh air, detoxified with antidote, especially serious poisoning breathing, cardiac arrest, rescue according to cardiopulmonary resuscitation method; when the body is stained with sodium cyanide dust or splashed by sodium cyanide solution, should be removed in time, rinse the skin with water, skin burns can be used 3% boric acid. Clean the wound with solution.

      Application of antidotes

      If sodium cyanide poisoning occurs, 10-15 ml of 3% sodium nitrite is added into 25% glucose solution for 40 ml intravenous injection. Immediately after the injection, 50% sodium thiosulfate 25-50 ml was slowly intravenously injected with the same needle at the same place. If taking sodium cyanide by mistake, the stomach can be lavaged with 10% sodium thiosulfate solution or 1:2000 potassium permanganate solution. After lavage, the stomach can be given a proper amount of ferrous sulfate solution orally.
